When my family became dog owners, specifically when they became my family, they soon discovered a rather inconvenient truth about this so-called nation of dog lovers. The hotels, holiday homes, restaurants and hospitality venues that had always welcomed them with open arms were suddenly rather less enthusiastic once I trotted through the door.
Not ideal. Particularly for a dog of my standards.
The search began well enough. Beautiful coastal cottages, boutique hotel suites, luxury villas. My humans know what they like and they were not prepared to compromise. But then came the fateful moment, the adding of "dog friendly" to the filter. And just like that, the five-star options evaporated. What remained were places that, frankly, I would not roll in. Three stars at best. Tired carpets. Laminate flooring. A "pet welcome" sign that suggested the welcome extended only as far as the doormat.
So my humans did what any self-respecting dog owner does. They started doing the research themselves. Trawling through listings. Reading between the lines of suspiciously vague property descriptions. Identifying the places that genuinely welcome dogs as part of the family, not as an afterthought. Places with proper beach walks nearby, with pubs and restaurants that mean it when they say dogs are welcome, and ideally somewhere within nose-range of a decent sausage.
And when they found them, the truly special ones, they realised other like-minded humans deserved to know about them too.
That is how Blazing Red Luxury Escapes was born.
